The Blessing Cup
By: Patricia Polacco

I think the theme is never give up hope because Anne (Anne is the great grandmother of the author)didn't give up hope on her family and her life when czar's soldiers took over.
When czar's soldiers came Anne didn't give up hope that she wouldn't be taken by them. When czar's soldiers forced the Jews out of Russia Anne didn't give up hope that her and her family would find a good place to live. When Anne's father was sick of pneumonia she didn't give up hope that he would survive though the hard winter. I think the lesson of this book is that we should never give up hope and that we should believe in our self and in others.

The little match girl

Written by Hans Christian Andersen

I think that the theme of The little match girl is have hope because she had hope even in hard times.
The little match girl had hope that she would sell her matches and be able to go back home but when she didn't sell any matches she huddled in a alley hoping her matches would keep her warm but when she lit the matches she saw a better life and she kept lighting matches in hope that the better life would stay with her.(Then she died because she froze to death.) This book made me think that you should have hope even in the darkest times!

When Marian Sang

Written by Pammuñoz Ryan
Illustrated by Brian SelznicK

I think the theme of "When Marian Sang" is hope because even when she was down, she still thought she could be a star. Here is some evidence, when Marian's dad died she did all she could to push past those bad feelings and make her voice happy again. Another reason the theme is hope is, when the audition people said that "colored" people couldn't audition she still had hope and convinced the audition people that she could audition! The last reason that the theme is hope is,when Marian wanted a singing mentor the one she wanted said no so she still had hope and Sang he liked her singing and said yes!

The message in the book makes me think that even when times are dark always have hope! By BrodyIMG_1389.JPG

Dad, Jackie, and Me

By Myron Uhlberg

I think the theme is hope because his dad wanted to meet Jackie
The dad wanted to meet Jackie Robinson because it was his favorite baseball player. His son was happy to because it was his first time at a baseball game. He wanted to meet Jackie Robinson so bad when he threw the ball his way he jumped higher then he had ever done before just to get the ball. I think the message is do not give up on your dreams.

HENRI'S SCISSORS

by Jeanette winter

I think the theme is hopeful because he was so ill he could not sit up but he strong enough to travel. When Henri was a young boy he wanted to paint like his mom. When Henri was ill he picked to use scissors instead of to painting. Even though he could not paint he could draw and make art by cutting paper. The message in this book is be hopeful until you achieve your goal.

Galimoto
By Karen Lynn willlams
I think the theme is hope because he wants to make a galimoto.
He was collecting wire for a long time he had to trade his knife for some wire he even traded his knife for some to.
He had so much hope he new no one had ever done it and people said he could not but that did not stop him.
But he still did made more and more and at the end he had like ten.
I think the message is you should not give up.
