Martin's big words

Written by: Doreen Rappaport Illustrated by: Brian Collier

We think the theme is fairness because, all people should be treated fairly.
Black people prayed for white people to be fair with them. Black people walked in protest marches. White people finally changed the unfair laws. Martin got shot in April 1968 while talking and praying with garbage collectors.
The message in this book makes me think no matter how you look you are perfect the way you are.

I also think the message in the book would make people think is that you are perfect the way you are and don't let anyone tell you that you aren't special.

I think another message in this book is that there is no hate but love.

Baseball Saved Us

Written by: Ken Mochizuki Illustrated by: Dom Lee

We think the theme is fairness because, the Americans were unfair to the Japanese people but they were actually good people. Japanese people would be called "Japs" but that was unfair because they didn't call them anything. Americans would send the Japanese people to camps because they thought they were dangerous. After all the Japanese people were nice and smart people. The message in this book makes us think everyone should be treated fairly no matter what. The guy in the watch tower gave him a smile and a thumbs up.-Camden
Everyone had a fair chance in winning -Gianni

The Real McCoy

Written by: Wendy Towle Illustrated by: Wil Clay

I think the theme of The Real McCoy is fairness because, people were unfair to Elijah but he became very successful. People made Elijah become a slave when he lived in America just because he was black. When Elijah lived in America they wouldn't let him go to school just because he was black. When Elijah moved to Canada everyone was fair to him. The message in this book makes me think follow your dreams even if people tell you to stop because even though people said no to Elijah he became a successful inventor by following his dreams.

Title virgie Goes To School With Us Boys
Author:Elizabeth Fitzgerald Howard

Yes theme of his fairness because The boys thought Virgie was and a girl and she was too young to go to school and they were not being fair.
Firstly the boys said school is too far and she was too young to go too school.
When mama and papa agreed to let Virgie go to school Nelson was frowning and said Virgie's too little.
Finally Virgie got to go to school and she did not act like a little girl and they where fair.
The message in this book made me think girls and boys should be treated fairly.
